Custom colors of Deep Red, White and Midnight Blue came together to create this unique one of a kind Flag Artwork. Worn and tattered mark making in colors of Grey, Umber, Black, and Ochre create a vintage feel that stands apart from the norm.
I created this custom piece in the Spring of 2021 with Cold Wax Medium on Paper as a gift to a YouTuber-Vice Grip Garage who was re-conditioning an abandoned 1972 Chevelle called Independence. The car and process has touched many, myself included, and it was a great time to witness it all come together. This piece was an easy decision to be my first ever Print to offer in my online gallery. Whether you display this Artwork in your home or garage it is sure to be a great conversation starter or a memorial to someone who appreciates the American Flag.
One of the things I love about this piece is the tattered look. Our American flag is often displayed as pristine and new, and that is lovely and proper; but my Artist heart expands and recognizes that some of the strongest come after the longest traveled road, worn, yet steadfast. Symbolically how “Independence” speaks to me is…though life’s journey may take it's toll, still we keep going, together…this is our home, America.
